South African Club Chess Championship 2015
Dear Members,
Click here for the circular. Glenwood Chess Club selected members will be announced shortly
so we can check everyone's availability. Then the final team lists will
be published.
It is my privilege to tell you that
Glenwood Chess Club in collaboration with KZN Chess Academy will be
hosting one of several annual national (CHESSA) tournaments.
We
bid for the SA Club Champs and were successful. It presents a huge
opportunity for our players in KZN, EThekwini and local clubs to
participate and compete in an event like this. It is unique and a tough
competition. Our successful bid has allowed for our club to cut down on
costs in terms of travelling and accommodation whereby we would only
send a couple of teams, however now we can send some more teams for
exposure (juniors and adults)
The tournament is from the 7th to 11th October 2015 (school holidays) so it is a perfect time for juniors to add this tournament to their chess CV.
With
any national tournament, there are expenses to account for. It is not
the same as running a local tournament. More attention to detail is
required as we host other regions and provinces. Therefore expenses
increase. There are two things I would like to put to you as
enthusiastic parents and players:
1) We have an
expected budget of R20 000 for expenses. I appeal to you to assist
wherever you can by helping us locate sponsors, making donations or
assisting the LOC in our tasks to raise funds.
2) If you are able to host anyone from outside KZN (Players and Chief Arbiter) please do contact me. This will be a great help.
We
want all the strong players to attend this event. To do this we need
the funds and the necessary support. Our goals from the LOC are simple,
provide opportunities to our players by bringing major tournaments to
our backyard. Now we have a chance to do so, so please help us in making
this a great event, so KZN will be awarded more national events in the
future at a frequent rate (imagine the amount of money that will be
saved).
Hope to hear positive feedback from our chess community! Please pass this mail around.
